In my speech I want to focus, firstly, on the conceptual difference between the two motives, which in my opinion seems to be crucial for the contemporary so called post-secular thought. First of them is the idea of a (radical) transcendence of God, developed especially in Levinas and "late" Derrida ("Comment ne pas parler"; "Sauf le nom"). The second one is the Christian idea of Incarnation. In Vattimo's thought the (radical) transcendence is not immune to violence, meanwhile the Incarnation is interpreted by the Italian thinker as a pattern of his "Weak Ontology". Secondly, I want to compare Vattimo's interpretation of Incarnation with some other interpretations of this basic dogma of Christianity, especially those which can be found in the writings by Jean-Luc Nancy, Emmanuele Severino and Michel Henry.
