The book of Ben Sira (also called "Sirach"), dating from the beginning of the second century BC for the Hebrew original and from the end of that century for the Greek translation, is addressed to individuals seeking wisdom. Probably a member of the rising class, Ben Sira speaks from experience. With a keen eye, he observes how the rich behave, and warns his followers about it.
