This article delves into the Triratna Buddhist Community (TBC) in Germany and its offshoot, Triratna Earth Sangha (TES), with eco-engagement. The TBC is a significant Western Buddhist movement emerged in the West in the 1970s under Sangharakshita. It is focused on adapting Buddhist principles to the context of Western life, without aligning with any extant Asian school. Over the years, Triratna has evolved its teachings and practices to resonate with Western audiences, blending traditional Buddhist principles with contemporary relevance. Central to the article is Triratna's historical background, Sangharakshita's ideas on climate crisis, and the eco-engagement of its members with environmental issues. This article also explores the specific eco-related practice like green puja and how the Bodhisattva ideal inform their approach to eco-activism.
