While religious teachings have historically been employed to reinforce traditional gender norms, they also possess the potential to advance progressive social change and inclusivity. Given that religious leaders continue to wield considerable moral authority within their communities, their active engagement in promoting gender equality and religious pluralism could play a pivotal role in fostering a more inclusive and equitable society in the region. This study examines the dual function of religious rhetoric in either sustaining or challenging established norms, emphasizing the potential for religious discourse to contribute to broader social transformation. key words: language, public discourse, gender, pluralism
