Text:
The proposed contribution presents a synchronic analysis and comparison of the Greek, Latin, and Aramaic translations of Deuteronomy 21:1-9, which deals with the law of the heifer. Each ancient version reflects the specific emphases and interests of its target community, resulting in distinct renderings of the same legal text. In this way, the specific features of each translation is much more visible than if the versions were compared to their Vorlage only.
