Sermons on the kingdom of God serve as a resource for inspiring both personal and collective transformation. This paper explores the theme of the kingdom of God as presented in four contemporary sermons on the second petition of the Lord's Prayer: Thy Kingdom Come. Rudolf Bohren speaks of the sermon as 'Namenrede'. This entails speaking about the Names of God. In the sermon as 'Namenrede', our reality is connected to the transcendent. The multicolored presence of God in our reality is pronounced.
This study aims to demonstrate how preaching expresses the presence of the kingdom of God in today's world. How do these sermons provide spiritual guidance that enables believers to discern the kingdom of God in their daily lives and broader realities? By examining these four sermons, the paper contributes to homiletical reflection on a core theme of Christian theology.
