"I am the vine, you are the branches" (Jn 15:5): the "synodal" ecology of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development at the Holy See. Since the beginning, man has been entrusted with the custody of Creation (see Gen 2:15) which today, however, appears increasingly exploited and compromised. Therefore, a socio-cultural change is necessary that favors environmental sustainability and to which religious confessions can also contribute by building new paths and indicating new strategies for the protection of the eco-system. In particular, referring to the Catholic Church, and starting from the ecclesiological category of "communion", the paper aims to analyze the methods of action and intervention for the care of creation and the protection of the environment implemented by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development at the Holy See. This body, in fact, in the field of integral promotion and protection of the environment, aims to implement the Magisterium of the Church through a "synodal" system of action and relations at multiple levels: from local Churches to Episcopal Conferences, from the various bodies of the Curia to international organizations, also cooperating with members of other religions and with civil authorities, according to the indications of the Apostolic Constitution of Pope Francis "Praedicate Evangelium".
