"Presenting Operative Cases from Our Center Diagnosed with ACTH-Independent Cushing's Syndrome and Subsequent Surgical Outcomes"
"A Retrospective Review of Patients Undergoing Suprarenallectomy at Our Center from 2012 to 2022: Evaluating Clinical and Analytical Characteristics"
"At our center, 33 patients were operated upon with this diagnosis, of whom only one had a functioning adrenal carcinoma as the underlying cause of the syndrome. One year after the surgery, follow-up tests were conducted, which showed the normalization of plasma ACTH levels and a decrease in urinary cortisol. Regarding the clinical characteristics of the patients, 16 of them had plasma glucose abnormalities, with 12 of them experiencing an improvement in glycemic control. This improvement included either normalization of glucose values or, in cases where diabetes mellitus was already diagnosed, a decrease in glycated hemoglobin levels and a reduction in the need for antidiabetic medications for proper glycemic control.
As for weight loss, 24 of the operated patients experienced a weight loss of at least 3 kg one year after the surgical intervention. Of the 21 patients who initially had hypertension , those with long-standing hypertension showed an improvement in blood pressure control after surgery, along with a decreased need for antihypertensive medications. Patients who developed new-onset hypertension coinciding with the diagnosis exhibited normalization of their blood pressure readings."
"Cushing's syndrome entails a series of significant metabolic and clinical alterations for patients. Surgery represents an accepted therapeutic option with favorable outcomes for improving analytical parameters as well as clinical symptoms."
