We present three cases of large parathyroid adenomas detected by cervical palpation.
Descriptive study of cases diagnosed in the last 5 years of primary hyperparathyroidism and adenomas greater than 40 mm in maximum diameter. The diagnostic methods, the indicated treatment and the final result are studied.
A total of three patients were diagnosed. They had nodules with a maximum size of 44, 76 and 89 mm compatible with parathyroid adenomas. Two cases underwent surgery and a third patient underwent alcolization of the tumor. The clinical picture of hyperparathyroidism resolved in all patients. The anatomopathological results of the two intervened patients were of parathyroid adenoma without signs of malignancy. The case of conservative treatment relapsed and required a second puncture for alcoholism.
Parathyroid adenomas diagnosed as a result of a palpable mass are an underreported clinical entity and are an infrequent cause of cervical tumor. For the diagnosis it is important to suspect it and do the iconographic tests to confirm the diagnosis, together with the PAAF
