Session: Human Well-being in Operations: Concepts, Methods and Challenges
15/06/2025 15:30 - 17:00
Hall: B2 2.5

Chair: M. Klumpp

Human-centric concepts and strategies are discussed by authorities, researchers and managers for operations competitiveness, resilience and sustainability. Yet, the issue of how human well-being is conceptualized, measured and influenced is in many ways still a puzzle for operations management research and neighbouring disciplines. This sub-plenary proposes to take stock of current state-of-the-art concepts, aligned with the EurOMA conference topic „Human-centric Technology". We explore this by including renowned experts from different countries and disciplines and triangulating this expertise in interaction with the audience at EurOMA in ordert o arrive at a clear, interesting and relevant research agenda for the future in answering these human-centric questions in detail. Within the session we introduce and discuss relevant issues like ethical limitations to human-centric concepts, measurement issues, individualization questions or data privacy and co-design concepts for operations workplaces in manufacturing, warehousing and logistics as well as industries like healthcare or tourism (Polimi HumanTech Cluster).
