Dumantepe Mert
Dr. Mert Dumantepe is a Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery at the University of Uskudar School of Medicine. He completed his graduation from Istanbul University School of Medicine, Turkey in 2001. He was trained in Dr. Siyami Ersek Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Research and Training Hospital. He did a fellowship in the field of Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension and Pulmonary Endarterectomy program and Heart Transplantation and Mechanical Assist Device program from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, USA in 2015 and 2016.
In his professional career, he has focused on extensive work with venous thromboembolic disease, particularly on catheter-directed thrombolysis in intermediate and high-risk PE.
Professor Dumantepe's research interest is optimizing the therapeutic management of patients with high-risk pulmonary embolism and endovascular treatment of acute and chronic deep vein thrombosis. He is a Steering Committee Member of the World Thrombosis Day Global organization since 2020.
Dr. Dumantepe is a reviewer of many well-known journals such as the Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Chest, Heart-Lung& Circulation, BMJ, Phlebology, and The Lancet. He is also the author of over 50 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, section editor, and writer of the deep vein thrombosis chapter of the Vascular Surgery textbooks.
He has been involved as Principal Investigator in multiple international, multicenter randomized trials in pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis including PE-KNOCKOUT Study, VETEX, and SPECTRUM study.
