Dr. Olena Bogdan, Sociologist, UNET Fellow at the Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS), Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. She has served as the Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Affairs and Freedom of Conscience from 2020 to 2022 (a central government agency in charge of ethnic and religious affairs) and as the Vice-Chair of the Steering Committee on Anti-Discrimination, Diversity, and Inclusion (CDADI) at the Council of Europe in 2021−2022. Combining sociological background with unique policy experience before Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine and during its first year, Dr. Bogdan can offer unique perspectives on how changing government policies affected religious pluralism and inclusion in Ukraine since the initial Russian aggression in 2014, hindrances to inter-Church and inter-denominational dialogues, and potential solutions to current challenges in accord with international legal frameworks.
