The aim of the paper is to reflect on the need to introduce a new institution of ombudsman to the system of the Catholic Church and to the canon law. Would the new institution reduce the power imbalance/assymetry in the Church (especially between the laity and the clergy) and promote synodality? Would it ensure better protection of the weaker? Would it provide effective conflict resolution mechanisms? Is it even possible to introduce the institution of ombudsman into the Church now?
