In the spirit of the resolutions of the 2024 World Methodist Council Conference in Gothenburg and building on the experiences of youth-led peacebuilding initiatives (international gatherings, pilgrimages, online interfaith learning programmes) that took place since then, through the World Methodist Council Youth and Young Adult Committee, this paper illustrates the importance of young people in creatively shaping the way peace is understood and practised within contemporary Methodist, Wesleyan, United and Uniting faith communities within the World Methodist Council. Young people are often among those most affected and exposed by the contemporary conflicts and their socio-economic effects. Faith-based peace initiatives, together with forms of theological formation rooted in Christian ethics of peace, are important in creating spaces where young people from different religious or cultural communities into dialogue create opportunities to challenge entrenched perceptions of the "other" and to develop new shared understandings of justice, reconciliation and peace, resonating with insights from constructivist approaches in International Relations that conflicts persist also because of shared ideas, narratives, identities and historical memories.
