Climate-induced migration poses profound challenges to today's societies, revealing the limitations of their ethical frameworks, protection structures grounded in strict legal categories, and political influences. At the same time, the emerging technologies, ranging from the growing use of AI in policies and decision-making to data-driven border management, are reviewing the way in which migration is governed. This article aims to examine climate-induced migration from the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Sea to Europe through the paradigm of Integral Ecology. Within a socio-political and legal analysis of the current regulatory landscape in Europe, the authors of this paper propose Integral Ecology as an epistemological framework which reconnects human dignity, environmental vulnerability and technological governance. On this latter point, technological responses to migration per se cannot be considered as purely technical and neutral, quite the contrary. Instead, when improperly used, they redefine the human subject of law, with a negative influence on their access to their basic rights. The article will also explore how an ecologically informed approach to law could address the protection gaps in order to promote governance models based on solidarity, responsibility and care, rather than control and efficiency alone. The article will take into consideration the European multilevel governance mechanisms which are capable of integrating technological innovation with a human-centered approach. Finally, the article will contribute to broader debates on responsible and ecological rationality, suggesting that Integral Ecology could be part of the normative foundation for a technological development in line with the protection of climate-displaced persons.
