Text:
When life gives you lemons… this paper asks where the lemons come from. Drawing on Marcella Althaus-Reid's poignant reminder of the lemon vendors in Buenos Aires, this presentation argues that we should not only ask about the experience of inequality, but also about the production of inequality and injustice under capitalism. The central focus of the paper is a critique of the "mind over matter" belief that persists even within liberation movements. From a class perspective, it offers a critical assessment of emancipatory strategies and questions approaches that neglect material realities.
